Week #10
This week has been a taught week, but I'm still alive. So for English class I had my presentation last week, we turned our abstract, and finished our third book. My presentation was cool I liked how my class helped me by writing negative or positive feedback about love. I talked about my three books and how they helped me find the answer to my question. When I got to the sources I told them how my question changed a little bit. I was no longer looking at the characters and how they make the story be so lovely. I made a turn into seeing how much the author puts himself into the story. One of my sources was an autobiography about Nicholas Sparks, this source helped me the most. Just by reading about Sparks I noticed how much of himself is being applied on his books. I wished I had more time on the presentation to explain my books better but I didn't want to bored the class. Also I liked how my abstract turned out I liked the conclusions I came up with and my personal reaction. I really enjoyed this project a lot because I got to learn about something that I was interested on learning. The History Of Love ended really nice I liked the book but not as much as Nicholas Sparks books. Semester one has ended we get a break but when we come back we start working again.

Week #9
This week and last week have been really busy. We been working on all 3 period projects and getting ready for presentations and finals. For English class we just finish our mini grammar project. My partner and I created a poster about mechanical errors on quotation, and we presented them yesterday. I'm still reading my book "The History of Love" and once I'm done I can finish my abstract. The abstract is about the three books we read and other sources we got to help us answer our essential question. One of my sources is an autobiography of Nicholas Sparks, which has helped me answer my question the most. Another source I got is a video about Nicholas Sparks who is being interview about his books in general. I been gathering quotes by Nicholas Sparks that will help me for my project. The book is really interesting because it's different from the other books that I read. It helps me to see the connection the reader makes with the characters. For my project I will be making a poster with a heart, and for my presentation the audience is going to help me write down negative and positive that describe love. Then I will be applying what I have learned to each thing that we have written on the poster. Good idea or no?

Blog Week #8
This week we started a mini project and I started on my third book. We also creating an abstract writing for the books that we have read. The mini project is about the most grammatical mistakes done by people our age. We have to create a poster that shows us how to memorize the grammar so we won't make the same mistake again. My partner and I got mechanical error with a quotation. We got some few ideas but I have no idea what we would be creating. I'm thinking of doing math equations. For example, period(.) + quotations("") = (" . ") period inside the quotations. We are not sure if people would understand it but its pretty much straight forward. We learn where the punctuation goes visually so seeing it one a math equation can work. Well that what we have so far. For my third book I'm reading The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I have just read the first 20 pages and so far it's fine and weird at the same time. I have a feeling it’s going to be different from the other books I have read but let’s see what I get out of it. I forgot about the last project we have before next semester starts. Once I’m done answer my essential question I have to represent it either through a poem, video, artwork, etc. I’m not sure what I’m going to do but I’m pretty sure it’s going to be some art piece. Well to be honest I haven’t thought about it good, but it seems like its going to be hard to come up with something.

Week #7
The last week before we went into break was a busy week. We got to turn in our projects and write our 2nd in class essay about our books. I think I did good job on my essay I tried my best to concentrate on it. My essential question was how does the author create his/her characters in order to make a the story a love one? In "Finding Perfect" by Susan Mallery, Mallery made a good job creating both of his characters in a way that makes them so lovely and beautiful together. Just like in the Nicholas Sparks books the characters are good looking making them a perfect couple. Also the both characters carry a past that doesn't let them trust again. Raoul the main character in "Finding Perfect" was hurt by his ex wife, because of what happened to them Raoul wouldn't trust Pia (the other main character). It wasn’t Pia’s fault which made the story intense. They both face bad backgrounds which makes the reader want them together more. Just like in any love story we wish we could talk to the characters and let them know they are wrong and that they should love that person who they have on their side. Also in love story we wish we could be on the characters place and have that loving partner that only exist in love books, movies, or fairytales. All this feelings that come to the reader while reading a love story are all the same, so that’s also something I have notice in love books.

Finding Perfect by Susan Mallery
This week i started reading my second book. It's called "Finding Perfect" written by Susan Mallery. The book is a romance book just like Nicholas Sparks books. My essential question is how does the author portray a love story through the characters? Meaning how does the author chooses his characters in order to make the book a love story. What do the characters have that make the book look so lovely. Most of the times the authors makes that perfect man and woman that people would want to have. Also they make love look so perfect but in the reality world we believe is not so we live love through books. Susan Mallery is a bit different from Nicholas Sparks but I can see how she draws her characters. The book is about a woman named Pia in where she is going through breakdowns because she doesn't know if she should have her friend's Crystal babies. Crystal past away from a sickness and left the embryos to Pia so she could have them. Pia doesn't understand why her. While this is happening she is helping a football players that is living in her city, this guy happens to appear right when they told her that Crystal had left her the embryos. She was suppose to help this guy but couldn't concentrate so she told him what was going on and instead he helped her. This guy kept bumping into her and apparently he knew Crystal's husband who died in war, and this guy was there when it happened. Pia is scare to have the babies but feels like she has too and the football player just wants to be there for her. This is how far I have gotten into, and it's getting good.

Blog #5 Week of 11/1-7/2010
This week we been working on our tragedy project and writing an essay about tragedy. For the essay we summarize what he learned from the tragedy articles we read and explain how we define a perfect tragedy. I used Aristotle, Oedipus, Miller, Krutch, and two other stories I picked from the internet. The first three paragraphs I explain the components they see in a perfect tragedy than I go into what I say. I agree with Oedipus when he stated that tragedy only happened to noble people but that's how it was back then or in places where there are a lot of heroes. On the other side I agree more in what Miller stated tragedy happens to the everyday man. And I gave the example of homeowners who lose their home because of the lack of money. Now for my project Diana and I are working on a letter written by the mother of one of many guys that died while crossing the border. The organization that received the letter by this mother has many names of people they have found dead in the desert while crossing the border. They do this to let people know in Mexico that their family member has passed away. Diana and I think that this a tragedy that keeps happening and will continue happening because there is people still looking for that American Dream and risk their lives to cross the border.
