Last POST

Well I have come to the end of my senior year and my high school journey. I can say that I have learned so much this whole entire year, especially in the inquiry projects. This week that just passed by I got to present about Autism. I hope my classmates learned that it's no easy to live with autism. I wasn't nervous and that made me see the difference from when I first presented at HTHI. I pretty much was confident in knowing what I was going to say. For my intersession I'm in Jeremy's but I was asked by my mentor for my volunteership if I could go and intern with SBCS. I don't know if I can do this because I think it's too late but it never hurts to try.

2 More Weeks

Well what can I say I been working really hard this week. On Monday I was able to go to Biola and pay the deposit to secure my spot and I got to take my picture ID. Then I came to school on Tuesday and noticed that the abstract was due on Wednesday night. I had not started it and the only thing I had was the two annotated bibliographies of my first two books. I started freaking out and I began to write during class and at home. I really thought I wasn't going to be able to finish it but I really did have enough time and I finished it. The only thing that I didn't put on abstract was the annotation of my third additional source. I also forgot to put my essays on my project page but I hope that won't take a lot of points off of my grade. Another thing that was added to all the work I had to get done was finishing my third book. Before my grandpa passed away I was working really hard on the project and I got a lot of things done. But since we came back from Mexico my house is full with people so I get distracted easily even though I try my best to concentrate. I'm happy that everything is almost over. Hopefully everything comes out fine in my presentation.

Project Time

I got my third book. I will be reading How Can I Talk If My Lips Don't Move? By Tito Rajarshi Mukhopadhyay. This book is full of many little stories that Tito wrote about himself. By reading his adventures I will be able to see how Tito's life is like. I have read the first couple of pages and it's pretty good, because what I'm reading comes straight from his head. I'm almost done with my project page and its due on Monday. Also I have to start my abstract because it's due on Wednesday hopefully I finish it quick. I basically have so many things to do first is to finish my book so then I can do my abstract and wrap up my project page. I really don't want to get in the stage of stressing out because it's not good; I'm trying my best to do a lot but slowly.

Half Working Half Sad

The first half of this week I was working really hard getting all my project things together, but then my grandpa died. I haven't done no school homework this is the first thing I'm doing because I wasn't able to write a blog on Friday since I left to Mexico. This has been one of the worst experiences I have ever been through but it has also made me strong and want to keep going forward and make my mom and grandpa happy. If I can remember I never got my third book so I haven't been able to read that but I did got some articles that Stephanie, I forgot her last name but she works with Anthony, gave to Stephanie our teacher. I haven't been able to take a look at them but I will asap so the articles can be added to additional resources. I know I'm really behind I'm going to try my best to keep working on this project and at the same time being there for my mom because it's been really hard for her. I thank all my teachers for understanding my situation and I'm looking forward to see you guys tomorrow.

Back to School

Well during this week we got to finish our work for the Twelfth Night project. I got to work with Shanynthia we got to create a children book about a couple of scenes. The book covers Act 1, scenes 2, 4, the end of 5 when Viola comes in, and Act 2 Scene 2. The text is still the same from the play. I enjoyed coloring and drawing the pictures in the way I see them in my head. Today we got to see the presentations of my classmates as well. I have to say that Sam's made my day it was really funny. I also liked the visual presentation of Alex. We didn't get to see everybody's but we will when we get back. Also I need to get back to working on my inquiry project during spring break my mentor from volunteership told me about a show called Jenks World something like that I don't quite remember. The show is made by a guy named Andrew Jenks and every week he tries to spent time with people to get to know how their daily life is like. When I heard that he has done an episode of an autistic guy I went ahead and watched the episode and it was the perfect show ever for my project, because he was answering the question that I'm looking for. I feel really good about the answers that I have gotten. I'm not sure what book I'm reading next but that decision has to be made asap.

Last Week!

Well this week went by really quick. I finished my second book and we got to write our second essay, which I enjoyed writing. The ending of the book was really good I really liked in it in general. I got to find more answers to my question which is what is life like as an autistic person? I feel that this book was done to answer my question and I'm happy I got to find this book and read it. I would like to know more about Autistic people, so if you guys know anything about it please let me know. Something else about English class is that we are working on a project from the play we just read, "Twelfth Night." I'm still lost about whose group I'm going to be in, but I would like to work on what Marisol is doing. I don't know how our class final product will be like, but I have a feeling it will be great. Now I have a spring break to look forward too. I think we all deserve this break because we have been working really hard in every class. We are almost going to be done, so we can hold on a little bit more. People get a lot of rest before we have to come back again:)

Finished Twelfth Night

We finished "Twelfth Night" and I loved the ending. I actually had a feeling it was going to end like a fairy tale where everything goes to its place, and they live happily ever after. Then we got to watch the movie version the old but not too old one and the modern one with Amanda Bynes. The old one was really good I liked it and the modern one was really funny I couldn't stop laughing. So now we have to come out with some plays based on "Twelfth Night." I believe that we have some good actors and the plays or whatever my classmates come up with will be really good. Another thing I started doing this weekend was reading my second book. My second book is, "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time," by Mark Haddon. The book is about an autistic boy named Christopher and he was blamed of killing of his neighbor's dog, but he didn't. But he will like to find out who killed him. While he's explaining his investigation he talks about himself and how is it like to live with autism, which is my question. I'm really enjoying and the book and learning more about autistic people.

Fun Week:)

What did I do this week? Well we have continue to read Twelfth Night. I like the scene in where Viola and Orsino where discussing about who is more into love guys or girls. We got to discuss the same question in class but it ended up in an argument because people disagree on people's opinions. Orsino believes that men change their mind a lot which I belief it's true and I know that through personal experience. I like to hear what my classmates have to say about the quick writes but not when it gets to arguing. Another cool thing we got to talk about pranks, I couldn’t stop laughing. There were some really good prank stories. I tricked my sister once. She had a $5 bill and I had $1 bill and I lied to her and told her that the dollar bill was more than the 5 dollars one and I came up with $5 dollars lol. Anyways, I have not been able to get my second book, which is "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time." They told me it was a short read so that's a good thing. I can't wait to read it though because I have heard that it's a good book.

Twelfth Night (cont.)

We have continue to read Twelfth Night. There's Viola who likes Orsino and change her identity to get close to him. Her plans went another way when she started working for Orsino because Orsino is using him (her) to help him get with Olivia which sucks. Viola went to talk to Olivia and she fell in love with him (Viola). It's funny because you can tell that Viola is trying to get Olivia fall in love with him instead of accepting Orsino's love. I really like the play especially when we get to act it out sometimes it's really funny. For homework I decided to retell, respond, relate every scene in the play. I haven't really had the time to focus in my inquiry project, but I did read this article that talks about an autistic couple. The article talks about how hard it is for autistic people to be in a relationship with each other. The problem is that they don't really know how to communicate or express there emotions. I like the answers that I have been getting for my question. Another thing that happened this week was that I got accepted to Biola Univeristy:)

Twelfth Nights

This week I been working on getting two of my applications in. Azusa's and Point Loma's. We also started reading "Twelfth Nights." I have seen a "novela" I don't know how it's called in English, but it's almost the same as the play. I seen the novela a couple of times and it's really cute. I'm excited about this play I have a feeling I'm going to like it. We cast the characters in the play and some people came out with good matches. Another thing we did in the beginning of the week was to write our first essay on our first book. I actually liked the way we wrote the essay this time, because I like talking about my topic so writing about it like I would on a blog was easy for me. I didn't finish because I took to long on my first paragraph and I was not able to finish one of my body paragraphs and the conclusion. I'm looking forward to read my next book. I'm not sure which one I'm going to be reading yet, but I'm sure I'm going to like it.

Emma

Yesterday, we got to see a comedy romance musical play of the book "Emma," by Jane Austin. I really liked the play in general. The actors/actress were really good and that's what made the play good and nice. My favorite part was when Mr. Knightly was about to tell Emma what he felt for her but Emma discouragement him and took his hopes down and he walked away. But then he turns back and tells her he loves her. It was so cute I wish I was her right in that moment. I learned that sometimes when you look for your partner you go really far to look for him when really his not too far away. Anyways, I have been working on my inquiry project. I been listening to the interview I had with Stephanie and I'm typing what she answer to my questions. I have to finish my book "Look Me in the Eye" by Tuesday so I'll get on that. I also did some research on experts in autism and I found this guy named Stephan. Stephan was diagnosed with a stronger autism and the doctors suggest his parents to institutionalize him, but his parents disagree. With the help of teachers, friends, and professionals Stephan was able to learn just like every child. Now he's about to complete his Doctoral degree in special education. I'm really excited to learn more about Autism.

Week 5

I have been getting loads of information about my topic, autism. I'm almost done with my first book "Look me in The Eye," and I love it so much. The book is loaded with information about asperger's which is tied up with Autism. John Elder Robison the author of the book is an aspergian, so reading a book that comes from someone that is diagnosed with Asperger's is really helpful. Reading about his life with asperger’s helps me have an image of what it’s like to live with asperger’s, and I can say that it’s not that easy. John is smart but he doesn’t have the social skills to work with people, like in a work or at school. He also talks about how he struggles to maintain conversations with people. I also got to interview Stephanie one of our staff here in HTHI that takes care of Anthony who has autism. The interview was really interesting she packed my head with more information about Autism. She talked to me about what it’s like to work with Anthony. Stephanie Lytle told me that it would be interesting to interview Anthony himself, and I’m really looking forward to do that.

Week 4 Semester 2

This week we have been working on our project and other small assignments. As I mention before one of the books I will be reading is Look me in the Eye, which I started reading already. I have read the ten pages and I have already learned so many things about Autism. It's really hard to stop and write down some notes because I just want to read it without stopping but I know that those notes are going to help me on my essay and my project question. I like how the book its essay to read and it’s full of great information and memoirs of the author which I love knowing about. I'm really looking forward to learning more about autistic people and in answering my question. Also, on Tuesday we got our quizzes back and I didn't do so great. I notice that I have to work on paraphrasing I thought I did that part good but I was totally wrong. I liked the fact that we got to do test corrections because we can know the right answer and get our grade up. We also got to make a Diigo account which is a program that lets you make a comment about any article or picture and you get to share it with people. That’s basically what we have been up too.

3rd week 2nd semester

This week we turned in our inquiry project proposals and took a quiz of what we have been learning. My project topic is Mental Illnesses. I will be reading Forrest Gump, Look Me in The Eye, and A Pebble to Publish. I'm interested in this topic because a couple weeks ago I saw Forrest Gump the movie and the character itself taught me some lessons about life, and I think that any book alike from Forrest Gump has some lesson that I would like to learn about. The other two books are about kids that have autism. My question in order to cover all of the books will be how does people with mental illnesses get affected emotionally by others? I'm looking forward to start my first book, Look Me in the Eye, and start looking for an answer. The quiz was a little bit hard I'm not sure if it was because I didn't really study or because I wasn't paying attention. I was sure I knew everything but I notice I was wrong when I started doing the test. I hope I didn't fail the test because that would be very unfortunate.

Week 2 Semester 2

This week we got to read Beowulf and we finished it today. We learned about how we got out language from the Anglo-Saxon. I learned that out English is a mixture of German and Latin. Beowulf the story came from Anglo-Saxon and it was about a hero named Beowulf. The Anglo-Saxon was being eaten by a monster named Grendal, and they needed someone to come and destroy him because their population was decreasing. So Beowulf heard about this monster and he went to Denmark to rescue the people. Beowulf with his strength kills Grendal and later Grendal's mother. Lastly, a dragon comes to fight Beowulf but the dragon hurts him and Beowulf's people come and kill the dragon, and Beowulf dies slowly. The story was interesting and different from the other hero stories I have heard. For my project I still don’t know what I’m going to do but I’ll think about something. I really want to make my topic about something I’m really interested in but there’s a lot that’s why I can’t make up mymind.

Week 14

This week we have been learning about the different types of English we speak depending on who we are talking to. We read a small reading about this writer that was Asian and had a mom who talked "broken" English. I got to relate with this reading because my mom doesn't has a "broken" English, and alike like the writer I have to talk on the phone for her sometimes because she knows they will understand me better than her. We are also learning about how many languages are getting extinct because people don't have people to talk to, so either they lost it or they grew old and never got to teach their language. We read two readings one was about French and the other one was about saving languages. The French one talked about how French people don't like the fact that people want to learn they language. They think that, that makes their culture look worn out. But I think that it's better for their country it makes their language look good. The saving languages reading was about a school in New York where they tell people whose language are not known and asks them to teach others their language so it won't get lost.
